Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February of 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was an exemplary homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's youth. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from the local grocer. Corcoran says her father was a drunken man who did her mother a disservice and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran struggled with her education and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and began the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed many classes during her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
